DTE, which stands for “Destroy The Enemy”, is a stimulant-powered fat-burner by Run Everything Labs. It contains a mixture of non-stimulant and stimulant ingredients, and features a relatively speculative ingredient, Arecoline Hydrobromide…
Carnitine is an amino acid which is required for the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria of the cell where they can be utilized for energy. This integral role in fat burning is what has earned Carnitine a reputation as a “fat-burner”, but unfortunately, it’s more complicated than that.
So Carnitine “should” burn fat, but does it? Not reliably.
DTE contains 1000mg of Acetyl-L-Carnitine which has become something of a standard dose, despite no actual evidence for its efficacy.
Coleus Forskohlii (Forskolin)
Coleus has been shown to reduce bodyweight and favorably influence body composition in human subjects. It may be slightly more effective in men, because cAMP also increases Testosterone which has it’s own inherent fat-burning properties. The standard “clinical” dose is 25mg of Forskolin per day, meaning 250mg of a Coleus extract containing 10% Forskolin.
DTE contains 250mg of Coleus but Run Everything Labs doesn’t list the exact standardization of Forskolin.
Caffeine generally forms the foundation of stimulant-powered fat-burners because it can reliably trigger the release of catecholamines (like Noradrenaline) which have inherent fat-burning properties.
DTE contains 250mg of Caffeine per serving, a moderate-high dose, depending on individual stimulant tolerance.
Picamilon is a combination of Niacin (Vitamin B3) and GABA which is allegedly much more effective at crossing the blood-brain-barrier than ordinary GABA.
It is commonly used in Nootropics and, lately, pre-workouts and fat-burners such as DTE. However, it hasn’t actually been studied very extensively for these types of purposes. For that reason, we’d consider it a speculative addition to the DTE formula, not something that’s definitely going to provide a noticeable effect.
Synephrine + Naringin + Hesperidin
Synephrine is similar to Ephedrine in terms of its mechanism of action. It is a weaker beta-adrenergic receptor agonist, capable of increasing the rate of fat-loss and raising Metabolic Rate.
It has been shown to increase Metabolic Rate on its own but can be substantially amplified by Naringin and Hesperidin using 50mg Synephrine, 600mg Naringin, and 100mg Hesperidin.
This is the precise ratio found in DTE.
Arecoline Hydrobromide is a speculative stimulant ingredient which we’ve just recently started seeing in such products as Dynamik Muscle Savage Roar and Run Everything Labs EWP.
In terms of chemical structure, it is similar to Nicotine, though it hasn’t been studied nearly as extensively.
The folks over at PricePlow have actually written an extremely informative blog post discussing the potential health hazards associated with Arecoline Hydrobromide. We suggest anyone considering an Arecoline Hydrobromide product take a look at that first.
DTE contains 3mg of Rauwolscine, a pretty powerful dose based on the fact that most products contain anywhere from .5-1mg of the stuff. Rauwolscine is hands down the most effective fat-burning ingredient in DTE and is responsible for most of the fat-burning effects.
We would suggest taking a pure Rauwolscine supplement such as Singular Sport Rauwolscine HCL before trying it in the form of a multiple-ingredient supplement, because it tends to be strong by itself.
This is certainly an ingredient that classifies DTE as a “high-stim” fat-burner.
The Bottom Line
Although some of the ingredients are a little questionable (Carnitine doesn’t work, Arecoline may be harmful), DTE definitely has what it takes to burn fat. This is mostly due to the stimulant ingredients such as Synephrine, Caffeine, and Rauwolscine. We wouldn’t recommend it to individuals that are particularly sensitive to stimulants and the use of Arecoline would also be another reason to stay away…but that’s up to you.
