Performix CreaBead: An Evidence-Based Review

CreaBead is a Creatine-based supplement by Performix, the brand behind Ion and Pump, which features the usual Performix “special delivery technology” to allegedly enhance an otherwise ordinary and boring blend of three forms of Creatine…

Performix CreaBead

Performix claims the same basic benefits as all Creatine supplements…

  • Increased Strength
  • Muscle Growth
  • Better Recovery

But is it any better than ordinary Creatine?  let’s take a look and find out…

Performix CreaBead Ingredients

CreaBead contains three types of Creatine: Monohydrate, HCl, and Ethyl Ester…

Creatine Monohydrate

Creatine Monohydrate is the most established and reliable form of Creatine.  It has been shown to

in dozens of double-blind, placebo-controlled human studies.  In other words, it is the gold standard of Creatine supplements.

There really is no need to supplement with other forms of Creatine unless you are experiencing some gastric distress and would prefer something light on the stomach.  Even then, you could simply just split the dose throughout the day, instead of taking it all at once.

Creatine HCl

Creatine HCl may be easier to dissolve in water, but that doesn’t make it more effective than Creatine Monohydrate.  In fact, because the stomach already contains an abundance of Hydrochloric Acid, Creatine HCl likely loses it’s HCl portion and converts to the basic Creatine molecule once inside the stomach.

No study has ever shown Creatine HCl to be more beneficial than Monohydrate.  Anyone who says otherwise (there are many companies out there) is simply misinformed or, even worse, is trying to mislead you.

Creatine HCL is NOT BETTER than Monohydrate.  Period.

Creatine Ethyl Ester

Creatine Ethyl Ester is actually the only form of Creatine shown to be worse than Monohydrate, so we’re really not sure why companies like Performix keep using it.  It’s one thing when companies claim that this form or that form is superior to Monohydrate in theory, but there is literal proof that Ethyl Ester is WORSE.  So why include it?  You’ll have to ask Performix…Then again they probably don’t know why they used it either.

CreaBead Ingredient Takeaway

What we have here is an ordinary Creatine supplement.  We’re happy to see that Performix actaully included an effective 5g dose of total Creatine, but the use of Creatine Ethyl Ester actually detracts from the efficacy of the formula.  It would be better to just stick with Creatine Monohydrate.

Does Performix Terra Bead Technology Work?

We’re extremely skeptical of this so-called absorption enhancing technology, not because we doubt that it works, but because Creatine Monohydrate is already nearly 100% absorbed regularly.  So there really is no need for enhancing it’s absorption.  If you simply take 5g of Creatine Monohydrate every day, you’ll get noticeably bigger and stronger.

Is CreaBead Safe?

Yes, CreaBead is entirely safe.  You could even take multiple servings all day every day and be fine.  Creatine is 100% safe in every way.

The Bottom Line

CreaBead is essentially an over-priced Creatine supplement.  The same benefits could be acheived by simply buying $10 worth of Creatine from a reputable brand and taking 5-10g every day.  There is no reason to over pay for “designer” Creatine supplements.  It all boils down to basic Creatine in the end, and research indicates without a doubt that ordinary Creatine Monohydrate is all you need.
