Legion Lunar Sleep-Aid Review

Lunar is a sleep-aid by Legion, the brand behind Pulse and Phoenix, which is designed to improve sleep quality, reduce the time it takes to fall asleep, and help users stay asleep longer…

Legion Lunar

Glycine is the simplest of all amino acids and is involved in a wide variety of functions and processes throughout the body.  In the context of Lunar, however, Glycine’s function is quite unique.

Glycine has been shown to improve quality of sleep as well as next-day cognitive performance in human subjects.  This has been noted in multiple studies, all using the same 3g dose prior to bed.

We discuss Glycine more in-depth in this article, including its hypothesized mechanism of action, but one thing is for sure: Glycine is absolutely an effective sleep-aid, and worth considering for anyone who feels they aren’t sleeping quite right.

Lunar contains 3g of Glycine, a true clinical dose.

Lemon Balm Extract

Lemon Balm has long been used as a relaxation agent, capable of reducing anxiety in stressed individuals and inducing a state of relaxation/sedation.  Preliminary research indicates Lemon Balm can improve sleep quality and reduce the time it takes to fall asleep, both of which make it an appropriate ingredient for a product like Lunar.

Lunar contains 600mg of Lemon Balm, standardized to 7% Rosmaric Acid (active component).

Rutaecarpine is unlike the other ingredients in the Lunar formula in that it has no direct implications for improving sleep quality or reducing anxiety.  Instead, Rutaecarpine has been shown (in preliminary research) to expedite the body’s ability to remove circulating Caffeine.

This makes it of interest to those who consume Caffeine throughout the day, perhaps habitually, but feel that it interferes with sleep.

Lunar contains 100mg of RC-NOS (patented form of Rutaecarpine) per serving.

Melatonin is hands down the most reliable, effective sleep-aid supplement available.  It has been extensively researched, with virtually every study indicating that it can support some aspect of better sleep.

We discuss Melatonin fairly in-depth in this article, and would recommend it as a first step for anyone having issues with sleep quality, getting to sleep, or staying asleep.  It is undeniable effective!

Lunar contains 500mcg of Melatonin, the lower end of what has been used in studies, but (strangely enough) just as effective as higher doses in the 1-5mg range.

Is Lunar Safe?

Lunar is extremely safe.  Every ingredients is dosed well within the safety threshold and none of the ingredients are considered toxic, even at higher doses.  The worst side effect one might experience when taking Lunar would be some mild next-day grogginess.

The Bottom Line

Lunar contains effective ingredients, all dosed to clinical standards, and is no doubt a great option for individuals experiencing mild sleep complication.  If you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or achieving deep/restful sleep, Lunar is worth considering. exists to educate the supplement community and seperate the science from the hype.
