This unique, quickly absorbed form of Carnitine has been promoted for a variety of benefits, including fat-loss, but research in the area of exercise recovery has been particularly promising.
At doses of 1-2g/day, L-Carnitine L-Tartrate has beens shown to reduce bio-markers (biological inidcations) of muscle damage. Similar results have been obtained in further studies and one study noted that the results may be attributed to an increase in muscle oxygenation.
More oxygen in muscle tissue would explain some of the studies involving Carintine, in various forms, improving physical performance.

BCAAs are one of the most popualar types of supplements when it comes to bodybuilding, though the efficact of such supplements as they pertain to muscle growth and performace enahcement have been called into question by some.
While it is true that Leucine, the “master” amino acid of activating muscle protein synthesis, is the most important of the three and the other two (Isoleucine and Valine) probably don’t help much in the way of muscle growth, there’s plenty of scientific evidence to support certain uses of BCAAs, especially when it comes to exercise recovery.
BCAAs have been shown to reduce indications of muscle damage, thereby enhancing exercise recovery and Leucine alone has been shown to put a stop to muscle breakdown in instaces of low protein intake.
So, while skeptics of BCAAs are right to say the benefits of BCAAs have been exaggerated, they do have legimiate functions that make them worth incroporating in any post-workout recovery supplement/stack, especially Leucine.

Post HAK contains a solid 6g of BCAAs in an odd 3:1:1 ratio. While the ratio doesn’t really matter, what does matter is the Leucine content and, given a 3:1;1 ratio of Leuciene to Isoleucine to Valine, Post HAK contains around 3.5g of Leucine per serving, a clinically effective dose capable of promoting optimal muscle growth.
Leucine is especially useful for Fasted Trainining, to negate the negatives while preserving the positives.
L-Glutamine rose to extreme popularity in the early days of Bodybuilding, but has since been scrutinized in the form of research papers which clearly prove that the benefits have been exaggerated by the mainstream supplement industry.
There is no solid evidence to suggest that Glutamine can:
- Increase Muscle Growth
- Speed Up Recovery
- Improve Performance
What does exist, however, is preliminary research indicating a strong correlation between exercise-induced immunie suppression and plasma Glutamine levels.
In other words, when you exercise for long periods of time, your Glutamine levels may drop and since Glutamine itself plays a vital role in general immune function, supplementation may help to protect against exercise-induced immmune suppression.
Based on the research, this appears to be mostly relevant to endurance athletes or people who run marathons. Basically, exercise that exceeds two hours of non-stop activity. Short duration exercise does not deplete Glutamine levels enough to meaninfully impact immune function, for the most part.
Post HAK contains 3g of Glutamine, higher than you’ll usually find in Post Workout Supplements and ultimately capable of doing some good (if you need it).
Tart Cherry Extract
Tart Cherry Extract possesses anti-oxidant properties which have made it quite popular as a post-workout supplement in recent years.
